State of the Occult Fan
By: Kaus Debonair

Over the past couple of months, I am certain that the lack of a newsletter issue has brought about some concerns in the community as to the future of this project. As it stands, we had only released two issues which means that I did not do a better job than my predecessors. I have run into the same pitfalls as previous editors such as lack of material, or the ability to finish articles by deadline times. Let me ensure you that these hurdles have not stopped me from wanting to submit a quality product to you all on a monthly basis. It simply has been a challenge recently to conquer these hurdles. But for those who know me well enough, I rarely back down from a challenge.

The Occult Fan now has four (4) writers: Sachi, Kamikaze, Paradox, and myself. That is an awfully small number to produce a product. But in that concern, I see opportunity. While there are a small number of writers, they are terrific writers and do a great job of meeting the deadlines which makes my job so much easier. As mentioned, meeting a deadline has been a concern for the newsletter editor since it existed. Without this concern, when the end of the month comes around, I have nothing to worry about instead of proofreading the great work that they do. I will perfect the art of proofreading eventually, but no guarantees there will not be one somewhere. ;)

We may only have four writers from now on, but that is fine by me. With fewer writers, nothing is really going to change. The four of us simply have to step it up a little bit. We still have all the regular reading sections like tournaments, clans, interviews, etc. We no longer have any articles specific to news like a TTA News or a TT.ca News section. While it is nice to have that there for you readers, I do not feel that the lack of these sections takes away from the product as a whole. After all, since they are news sections, you probably have heard about the news already or will find out eventually without having a TT.ca sneak-peak section every month.

Having said all of this, let me ensure you that the Occult Fan will move forward. I hope this defeats the rumors and discontent over the last couple of months. As of right now, the newsletter team is not hiring any regular writers. If people wish to do a guest article, then they may submit it whenever they wish. I really love the core of writers that I am privileged to work with so enjoy this issue and all others that follow!
